Frequently Asked Questions
|
|
Soap is made with lye (sodium hydroxide). Isn't this hard on skin?
You can't make soap without using lye, or something equally caustic. The lye
saponifies, or reacts with the oils to make soap plus glycerin. After the aging
process* lye is no longer present in the final product.
(*Cold process soap is aged usually 3 to 6 weeks to complete the
saponification process.)
What makes hand crafted soap different from commercial soap?
Our soap is made with simple natural products...using the cold process of saponification it
has all the natural glycerin still intact after this process. Read the labels of
commercial soap ... most are not truly soap at all, but detergent bars.
Does handcrafted soap moisturize your skin?
Depending on the recipe this will vary. What is more important is that it is gentle to the skin and leaves
more emollient behind (due to the natural glycerin left behind in the soap
making process). The one thing you will notice is after using our soap is your
skin will feel clean and not tight like when using commercial soaps.
